Reporting into the Practice Manager, the Kennel Assistant provides care to address the needs of patients that are visiting the practice for grooming and / or boarding. The Kennel Assistant ensures that the boarding area is clean and safe for all patients by cleaning cages, runs, and ward areas and washing laundry. The Kennel Assistant walks, feeds, and administers medication to patients (as needed and supervised by Doctor or Technician and based on confidence and experience). The ideal candidate is able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
Expected work schedule (subject to change based on the needs of the practice):
Must be able to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
During the week, the hours are 7:45 AM - 12 PM and 2 PM - Until all duties are finished (~6 / 6:30 PM). Saturdays are 8 AM to 1 PM while the hospital is open, and then boarders are cared for again at 5 PM. Sundays involve caring for boarders at 8 AM, around 12 to 1 PM, and after 5 PM. There is some flexibility with the Saturday evening shift and Sunday shifts depending on when staff completes tasks.
Example: One weekend, staff may choose to get all cleaning done Sunday morning and stay from 8 AM to 2 PM, leave and come back at 5 PM for the evening boarder care. Another weekend, they may choose to complete all hospital cleaning tasks on Saturday, so that the only tasks left to do on Sunday are boarder care (8 AM, 12-1 PM, and after 5 PM) and will come three separate times that day.
Benefits offered may vary depending on full or part time employment status according to company policy.
