More about the Role

The Equine Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians in providing medical care to horses. This role involves assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Please note: Work may be performed in various settings, including clinics, stables, and farms hot and cold.

Monday - Friday:  8 AM - 5 PM
Saturday: 8 AM - 12 PM 

 

Pay range: $16 - $20

  • Active Listening: Following the instructions of veterinarians and sometimes patient owners. Picking up the needs of veterinarians and teammates based on prior experiences and feedback.
  • Organization Skills: Clear tracking of lab specimens, medications, patient instructions, workflow, and other job-related items while managing multiple patients and clients.
  • Client Satisfaction: Ensuring all activities and interactions result in the highest level of client satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures.
  • Handle and restrain horses safely and effectively.
  • Prepare and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed.
  • Monitor the health and behavior of horses.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and work areas.
  • Provide client education on horse care and health.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with horses and knowledge of equine care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.

Pay Range

USD $16.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.
