More about the Role

The Credentialed Veterinary Technician performs a critical role in providing high quality care for patients. Credentialed Technicians are key partners to the veterinarians, providing the appropriate support to ensure each client interaction and procedure is seamless and successful. Credentialed Technicians apply their professional skills in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education. 

 

Hours of operation:
Mon & Fri: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Tue – Thu: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Sat: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Sun: Closed 

Anticipated Schedule:
4 day work week x 9-10 hour shifts

 

Pay: $22 hourly

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Assist veterinarians during surgeries and medical procedures
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
  • Monitor and record vital signs of animals under anesthesia or in hospital care
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as blood, urine, and tissue for testing
  • Conduct diagnostic imaging including X-rays and ultrasounds
  • Perform routine dental cleanings and educate pet owners on dental care
  • Provide emergency first aid and resuscitation to injured or critically ill animals
  • Maintain detailed medical records and update patient files
  • Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
  • Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed
  • Offer guidance and support to pet owners regarding animal care and treatment plans
  • Supervise and train veterinary assistants and other support staff
  • Experience with exotic animals or specialized animal care
  • Completion of an accredited veterinary technology program
  • Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) depending on state requirements
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with veterinarians, pet owners, and team members
  • Ability to restrain and handle animals safely and compassionately
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow precise medical instructions
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Competency in basic laboratory procedures and use of diagnostic equipment
  • Commitment to ethical and professional standards in veterinary care

Requirements/Qualifications

  • State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
  • Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages
  • Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety
