Position Purpose

The HR/Benefits Specialist reports to the Director of HR Operations and assists with supporting Heartland team members with HR inquiries and supports HR centers of excellence. This includes answering questions that come into the HR Service Center (AskHR), clinical recruiting and learning and development coordination activities, new employee onboarding, employee recognition and engagement activities. There is a heavy focus on Benefit support through process and functions. This is a on-site role located at our offices in Chicago, IL.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Respond to all AskHR inquiries regarding benefits, certifications, employee relations, new hire process, etc. in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
  • Ensure proactive responses to inquiries – thinking ahead to what the next question may be.
  • Log all incoming inquiries to ensure accurate AskHR data tracking and insights.
  • Process existing DVM renewal and new DVM PILT / AVMA memberships.
  • Partner with Payroll team any inquiries requiring payroll support.
  • Update and maintain HR information flyers, notices and posters.
  • Train new managers on internal new hire processes.
  • Conduct Support Center new hire orientation.
  • Partner with Director, HR Operations to conduct support center orientation and onboarding experience.
  • Manage third party leave processing vendor and leave processes.
  • Support Director of Comp & Benefits Wellness with all open enrollment processes, mental wellness communication activities as assigned by Director.
  • Partner with Director of Comp, Benefits & Wellness to manage all 401K audit work.
  • Manage the companies survey software for annual surveys and ad hoc surveys as needed. Edit raw data for easy analysis.
  • Provide all benefit analysis & support for all newly integrated practices; support new partnerships with HR integrations.
  • Support new partnerships with HR Integration calls, introducing HR and confirming HR support
  • Liaison for/with benefit providers (medical, dental, vision, ancillary benefits, retirement plan and COBRA) to investigate all team member plan inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working in HR preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience working in Benefits preferred.
  • Experience generating data and insights.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Pay Range

USD $50,000.00 - USD $65,000.00 /Yr.
